Kyle Busch is recuperating in the hospital after sustaining major leg and foot injuries in a crash near the end of yesterday’s Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway.
At Busch’s bedside is his wife, Samantha, along with their dog. And from there, Samantha has tweeted that they’ll all be watching today’s Daytona 500 and pulling for the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team, led today by interim driver Matt Crafton:

Kyle himself later tweeted:
Would rather b driving than watching the #Daytona500 but pulling 4 @Matt_Crafton and the No. 18 @mmschocolate team.

Earlier this morning, team owner Joe Gibbs issued an update on Kyle’s condition. Kyle underwent surgery last night for a compound fracture in his lower right leg. He also suffered a mid-foot fracture in his left foot as part of yesterday’s crash; Gibbs said that the foot fracture would be addressed whenever Busch returns to Charlotte.
Kyle is out indefinitely because of his injuries, and the team has not yet decided upon an interim driver for future races after today’s 500.
