Thursday morning’s news that Kurt Busch won’t be facing criminal charges from the Delaware Department of Justice could expedite his return to the No. 41 Chevrolet
In the wake of a NASCAR statement that “the elimination of the possibility of criminal charges certainly removes a significant impediment to (Busch’s) reinstatement” from an indefinite suspension, Stewart-Haas Racing released its first comments on the matter Thursday night.
In a statement, executive vice president Joe Custer said
“We appreciate the thoroughness of the Dover Police Department’s investigation into the allegations made against Kurt Busch and respect the time the Attorney General put into his decision. They are the experts in these matters and the decision not to pursue charges is an important one. We’re currently working with NASCAR to understand how this impacts Kurt’s reinstatement process.”
The SHR reaction came after earlier statements from Busch and ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll, who successfully obtained a protective order against the NASCAR driver.
