UPDATE: Following repairs to his car, Chase Elliott is back on track at Martinsville Speedway, 69 laps down and scored 43rd in the field, after being involved in two wrecks between Laps 65 and 73.

ORIGINAL STORY

Just over 60 laps into his Sprint Cup debut, Chase Elliott got a rude welcome to NASCAR’s top series.

Elliott got tangled up in a wreck, running into the rear of Brett Moffitt, causing the front end of Elliott’s NAPA Chevrolet to buckle up.

The damage created what appeared to be a right front tire rub, producing smoke.

Several laps later, Elliott also got into Cole Whitt, adding to the damage he already had.

Elliott took his car to the garage on Lap 74. He was scored in 42nd place.

His team was working on replacing on the radiator as well as the power steering pump, according to a report by Fox Sports 1.
