There is no timetable for when Kyle Busch will return to competition after breaking his right leg and left foot in a crash during the Xfinity Series race at Daytona in February.

In the meantime, David Ragan is filling in for him and had his best finish doing so winding up fifth at Martinsville on Sunday.

Busch has become more active, taking part in a Joe Gibbs Racing team meeting last week and visiting a race track to keep tabs on his own race team.

“Kyle came to our meeting on Tuesday, and he looked good,” team owner Joe Gibbs said after Denny Hamlin’s win at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday. “He’s standing up on his right foot now and kind of showing some of that energy and stuff that he’s got going. He drives a mean wheelchair. We’re excited about him coming back.”

Busch and his wheelchair were a fixture at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, N.C., on Saturday. He was there to oversee his two-car team its inaugural CARS Racing Tour Super Late Model race. Driving in the race for Busch were Kaz Grala and Christopher Bell, the latter finishing second in the race.
