BRISTOL, Tenn. – After inclement weather delayed the green flag for more than an hour, NASCAR completed eight minutes of racing Sunday before the skies opened again at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes was red-flagged after 22 laps at 2:39 p.m. while under a caution flag for a crash involving the Team Penske Fords of Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski.
Keselowski radioed his team that he lost control after passing a lapped car off Turn 4, and Logano rear-ended his teammate on the frontstretch, leaving their cars crumpled in Turn 1.
The race started at 2:31 p.m., nearly 90 minutes after the scheduled green flag. Pole-sitter Matt Kenseth led the first five laps before yielding the lead to Kevin Harvick, who began lapping cars by the 15th lap.
The top 10 when the race was stopped: Harvick, Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, Jamie McMurray, David Ragan, Paul Menard and Kyle Larson.
The forecast called for rain for the rest of the afternoon with the next potential break expected in early evening.
