Today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol: Start time, lineup, TV information and more

BRISTOL, Tenn. — The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series begins a stretch of consecutive short tracks Sunday with the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Here are the particulars (all times are ET):

START: Ella and Leo Gordon, the children of four-time Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon, will give the command for drivers to start their engines at 1:02 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 1:08 p.m.
DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 500 laps (266.5 miles) around the 0.533-mile oval.
PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Sprint Cup garage opens at 6 a.m., and the drivers meeting is at 11 a.m. Driver introductions begin at 12:20 p.m.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: It will be performed by Captain Stephanie McKeen at 12:56 p.m.
TV/RADIO: Fox will broadcast the race, starting with a prerace show at 12:30 p.m. Performance Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and GoPRN.com.
FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts 66 degrees at race time with a 100% chance of rain that is expected to decrease during the afternoon.
LAST TIME(S): In a season highlight a year ago for Roush Fenway Racing, Carl Edwards scored his first victory of 2014 by holding off teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in a race that ended inadvertently under caution after being delayed by rain for more than six hours. Last August, Joey Logano passed Matt Kenseth for first with 45 laps remaining and hung on for a win over Brad Keselowski, capping a 1-2 finish for Team Penske.
BACK ON THE BOX: After missing Friday’s practice and qualifying, crew chief Luke Lambert returned to work Saturday with Ryan Newman at Bristol and will be calling Sunday’s race for the No. 31 Chevrolet.
