With the completion of the Hisesne 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the four-driver field for this year’s Dash4Cash competition has been set.

The top four Xfinity points finishers Saturday qualified themselves for the first round of a four-race contest for $100,000, which could lead to a chance at $1 million at Darlington Speedway.

After finishing in the top 10, the drivers that will compete for the first-round money are Regan Smith, Darrell Wallace Jr., Daniel Suarez and Ty Dillon.

Whoever finished the highest in next week’s race Dover International Speedway will win $100,000 and advance to the next round at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, while another three drivers can become eligible for that round.

The beginning of the Dash4Cash caught a few of the contestants by surprise. Smith didn’t know Charlotte represented the qualifying race for it until the driver’s meeting on Saturday. Suarez, an Xfinity rookie, found out as his car was guided down pit road at the race’s conclusion.

“It’s good and I didn’t know that until they told me to follow the 6 (Wallace) and the 7 ( Smith),” Suarez said. “That’s cool and something new actually. I saw the ‘Dash 4 Cash,’ and I don’t know exactly how it works or anything, but I’m really proud to be part of this and something new for me.”

Dillon was part of last year’s Dash4Cash competition and won $100,000 when he won his first career Xfinity race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“We won’t really change much in our preparation going into this week,” Dillon said. “It’ll be something that’s in the back of your mind. I’m definitely going to be paying attention to where these guys are during the race, trying to get that extra $100,000 if we’re not leading. “

After Dover, the Dash4Cash continues at Indianapolis on July 25, then at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 21 before concluding at Darlington on September 5.

“You look at the tracks that they selected and obviously Xfinity was paying attention when they did that,” Smith said. “We’re going to pick four really difficult tracks. There’s nothing easy about any of those places, they’ve all got their own characteristics.”

Each race allows a new set of four drivers to qualify for the next. If one driver manages to be the highest finisher in each race, he can win $1 million total by winning the Darlington race outright.
