Ty Dillon will be back in the Xfinity Series full-time in 2016 says team owner Richard Childress.

Dillon, the grandson and driver for Richard Childress, is in the middle of his second full season in the Xfinity Series, though he has popped up to the Sprint Cup Series for two races so far in 2015.

Childress told Reid Spencer of the NASCAR Wire Service that dynamic will likely remain the same with sponsorship potentially allowing him to run more Sprint races.

“We’re kind of working on it now,” said Childress. “It sort of depends on the sponsorship and all, but we want to get him set up for the XFINITY Series next year, and if we can get him going in the Cup [Series], that’s kind of our plan.”

Childress already had three full-time drivers racing for him in the Cup series: Ryan Newman, Paul Menard and his other grandson, Austin Dillon.

Through 56 career Xfinity races, Ty Dillon has one win in last year’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 11 top-five finishes and 36 top-10 finishes.

“We’ve definitely talked about (my Cup plans for 2016) and I think it’s our goal,” Dillon said at Iowa Speedway last week. “It’s my goal and my grandfather and I have talked about it a lot, (running) in Cup next year.

“Still working on things, but that’s next year. I think if we win the championship this year, it’ll make plans easier to come by.”

Dillon is currently second in the Xfinity driver standings, four points behind Chris Buescher.

Dillon is scheduled to race in the Sprint Cup races at Pocono Raceway on June 7th and Michigan International Speedway on June 14th.
