All-time winner Jimmie Johnson rules Dover in many ways

The statistics show it’s no surprise who the best NASCAR driver is at Dover International Speedway by a wide margin.

Jimmie Johnson, who holds the all-time win record at Dover with nine victories, leads the Sprint Cup Series in driver rating (122.3), percentage of laps run in the top 15 (88.2%) and average running position (6.454).

The six-time series champion also has a series best average finish of 8.2 in 26 starts at the 1-mile oval. Johnson’s average start of 9.9 trails only Kyle Larson (6.0 in two starts) and Ryan Newman (9.7 in 26 starts).

Former Dover winners Matt Kenseth (108.3) and Kyle Busch (105.5) are the only other drivers with ratings above 100.
