So how did Monday’s Xfinity team meeting go at Roush Fenway Racing two days after Chris Buescher made contact with teammate Darrell Wallace Jr., costing Wallace a chance for the win at Dover?

“We’ve got to cool down a little bit,’' Buescher said Tuesday on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s “Tradin Paint.’'

Wallace led when he and Buescher made contact, sending Wallace up the track and Buescher into the lead with 10 laps to go. The contact damaged Wallace’s car and gave it a flat tire. Wallace finished 17th, three laps behind the leaders. The contact also cost Wallace a chance at the $100,000 bonus in the Dash 4 Cash program. He was one of four eligible drivers vying for the money at Dover.

After exiting his car, Wallace described what happened with Buescher: “Got run over.

“I would say I’m happy Roush won, but I’m not.’'

Buescher, the Xfinity points leader, was asked on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio if Monday’s meeting was awkward.

“I don’t know if awkward is the word, but, obviously, not as smooth as we wanted it to go,’' Buescher said. “When you come down to the end and you have two cars with the same organization with a chance to win a race and both on similar strategies, it gets a little rough sometimes. Not ideal. I hate it went the way it did.’'

Asked how he would asses his relationship with Wallace after Saturday’s race, Buescher said: “I’ve tried to express my view on the situation. It’s just too soon. We’ve got an off weekend to go relax a little bit and we’ll come back to it and we’ll get it resolved before Michigan. It’s still fresh in everyone’s mind. I think both of us have opinions on what went on, and I don’t think we agree completely with the situation. We’ll get it figured out. It’s part of racing and part of having as many teammates as we do over at Roush Fenway.’'

The Xfinity Series is off this weekend. The series returns to action June 13 at Michigan International Speedway.
