Chip Ganassi Racing partners with Ford for run at Le Mans in 2016

Ford announced Friday that it will return to Le Mans next year with its new GT car with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.

The return will come on the 50th anniversary of Ford GT cars placing first, second and third in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“We’ve never run at Le Mans,’' Ganassi said during Friday’s announcement at LeMans. “I can tell you we want to win this race. When Ford presented us that opportunity, a chance to compete here, well what race team wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

The new GT car will fun the full 2016 schedules of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, making its competitive debut in Jan. 2016 in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
