Rain delays can make some NASCAR folks say things they normally might not.

Such was the case with defending NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Kevin Harvick -- and now he’s in trouble with wife DeLana for letting something slip that he shouldn’t have.

Interviewed on NBC during Sunday’s rain delay prior to the Coke Zero 400, Harvick admitted it had been a rough day so far.

“I don’t know how many more shots to the face or to the ribs, or tickle contests, or whatever we have going on – we’re talking about Keelan,” Harvick said of his young son Keelan. “So it’s been an interesting day in the motorhome, to say the least. I just took a Lego box to the face, so it’s been pretty rough.”

But then Harvick slipped, revealing what kind of gift Keelan will receive when he turns 3 years old on Wednesday.

“He’s got a little dune buggy go-kart that he’s going to get for his birthday,” Kevin said. “Hopefully, he’s not watching. We had to work on that a little bit. The whole no-racing thing isn’t working out.”

Harvick’s wife, DeLana, couldn’t believe what she heard, taking to Twitter:

It looks like Harvick’s faux pas will cost him more than just a go-kart now, as DeLana tweeted again:
