Ty Dillon talked about trying to deal with the heat at Indianapolis during the NASCAR Xfinity Series Lilly Diabetes 250, where he was able to move up from 17th to finish ninth overall.
And then there was Elliott Sadler (video below), who finished fifth but was physically drained after the race, requiring a visit to the infield medical care center afterward.
Things were compounded for Sadler when he lost his air conditioning around Lap 20 and had to spend the last 80 laps of the race without any cooling.
Brad Keselowski and Rodney Childers took to Twitter to give their perspective on the heat issue for both Saturday and especially in Sunday’s race.

This week's rear tail extension rule adds 10-20 degrees to inside car temps. https://t.co/UCSnK0KVig

@bobpockrass tail extensions have killed the underneath flow.. Nothing to pull the hot air out from under the car. That's what is doing it.

@AlexBRacing @bobpockrass I learned pretty quick.. Kept pulling tape off the grill and it wasn't doing anything.. Guess it will just run hot
