Today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Pocono: Start time, lineup, TV info and more

LONG POND — The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series makes its second and final visit of the season to Pocono Raceway with Kyle Busch looking to extend his winning ways. He’s won the last three Cup races and four of the last five. Already this weekend he’s won the Cup pole and the Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono. He looks for another victory today.

Here are the particulars for today’s race (all times are ET):

START: Command for drivers to start their engines at 1:37 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 1:46 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 160 laps (400 miles) around the 2.5-mile track.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Sprint Cup garage opens at 7:30 a.m. The drivers meeting is at 11:30 a.m. Driver introductions are at 1 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: It will be performed by Alyssa Golden at 1;31 p.m.

TV/RADIO: NBCSN will broadcast the race (and streaming available at http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra), starting with NASCAR America at noon and Countdown to Green at 1 p.m. Motor Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at MRN.com with its prerace show at 12:30 p.m. ET. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry the radio broadcast.

FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts 76 degrees at race time with a 0% chance of rain.

LAST TIME: Martin Truex Jr. led 66 of the final 67 laps to win the June race and score his first Sprint Cup victory since June 2013. Kevin Harvick placed second with Jimmie Johnson third. Joey Logano placed fourth, starting his current streak where he’s scored six top-five finishes in seven races.

TO THE REAR: Ryan Newman’s team reported on Twitter that the team found a potential issue with its rear end gear and changed it, moving Newman to the back of the field for the start.
