Terry Labonte, the last driver to win the Bojangles Southern 500 when it was held on Labor Day weekend before its return to its former traditional date this season, will be the grand marshal for next week’s race.

The Southern 500 was last held on Labor Day weekend in 2003. The Sept. 6 race will air on NBC.

Labonte, a 2016 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, is a two-time Southern 500 winner. His return is a part of the throwback theme for the weekend, which includes several cars in throwback paint schemes.

“Darlington is where I won my first race and my last, and I’m honored to serve as grand marshal for the first time at the Bojangles’ Southern 500,” Labonte said in a statement from the track. “I love the Labor Day tradition, and Darlington always brings back special memories for me. I look forward to being part of such a historic weekend for NASCAR.”
