The video of NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Brian Scott’s January 2014 wedding to Whitney Kay has become the talk of NASCAR, having recently been rediscovered and gone viral on YouTube.

Thursday morning, the video aired on the “Today’’ show on NBC, and it’s understandable why folks like Danica Patrick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and others within the sport tweeted their plaudits afterward.

The emotional video shows Scott and his bride both getting choked up reading their vows to each other in the storybook wedding in McCall, Idaho.

But the part that will really put a lump in your throat is when Brian bends down and reads vows to Whitney’s then-three-year-old daughter Brielle, promising to forever take care of her.

“I promise to always hold your hand and skip with you down the street and bring comfort to your life,” a teary-eyed Scott said to his new stepdaughter. “I vow to make you say your prayers before you eat.

“I promise to read you stories at night and to always tuck you in real tight. I vow to show you how a man should treat a woman in my relationship with your mother. And above all else, I vow to protect you, care for you and love you forever.”

Interviewed Wednesday by The Huffington Post, Scott said his vows to Brielle as part of the biggest day caught him off-guard emotionally.

“I always felt like my vows to my wife Whitney would maybe affect me more and I would get more choked up during those, making those promises to her,” Scott said. “But I misread that one. It was really when I was reading my vows to Brielle that I got the most choked up.

“It really all just hits home in that moment - you’re there and dressed up and all the people around. You’re living in the moment. It affects you more than when you write it or plan for it or practice it. You get engulfed by it.”

Brielle now has a brother, as the Scotts welcomed son Joseph to the family in November.
