A four-car crash on Lap 311 of the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway involved this season’s only two-time winners.

Jimmie Johnson, a winner at Texas Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway, hit the left-rear bumper of Jeb Burton, a lapped car, while entering a turn, spinning Burton’s No. 26 Toyota. Johnson’s No. 48 Chevrolet was rammed from behind by David Ragan’s No. 18 Toyota.

After Ragan slid to a stop in the middle of a turn, points leader Kevin Harvick lost control of his No. 4 Chevy while slowing down and slammed into Ragan’s car on the right side.

Johnson remained on the track, but Harvick, who won at Phoenix International Raceway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, went behind the wall for repairs.

The wreck ends Harvick’s streak of top 10 finishes to begin the season at seven races. Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr. had the same streaks after suffering earlier misfortune.

Ragan, who is substituting for the injured Kyle Busch, was checked and released from the infield care center.

“Sometimes when you race back there with the squirrels, you find the nuts sometimes,” Ragan told Fox Sports One. “But that’s just Bristol. You’re racing hard, (Burton) was a little slower, and Jimmie’s probably a little impatient trying to get back to the front and he just touched him there.

“As soon as my spotter said they’re wrecking, I’m into (Johnson).”
