Dale Earnhardt Jr., two others lose practice time at Bristol for Michigan issues

Michigan International Speedway - Day 1

The teams of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Paul Menard and Josh Wise each will lose 15 minutes of practice Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway because of issues in inspection last weekend at Michigan International Speedway, NASCAR confirmed Tuesday.

Earnhardt’s team received a warning and practice time deduction after the No. 88 Chevrolet failed inspection before last weekend’s race three times.

Menard’s team and Wise’s team each were late to the qualifying inspection line at Michigan and will be docked practice time this week at Bristol.

AJ Allmendinger’s team received a warning for failing qualifying inspection twice.

Brad Keselowski’s team received a warning for failing inspection before last weekend’s race twice.

NASCAR also stated that there would be no penalties to the teams of Keselowski and Joey Logano after their splitters were taken before last weekend’s race.

NASCAR recently streamlined its warning structure. NASCAR’s Rule Book states that for every fourth warning a team receives in a season, whether the event is a points or non-points event, it will result in the loss of pit selection. Warnings can not be appealed.

The warnings issued for Michigan are the first for each team under this new system.
