The Saints selected rookie Tyler Shough in the second round of this year’s draft and still have holdovers Jake Heaner and Spencer Rattler on the roster. Both Haener and Rattler received extended looks last season following Carr’s injury, so it would stand to reason that Shough will be given every chance to earn the starting gig under center for the Saints. That said, Moore mentioned today that “there’s a blank slate there,” indicating the team will be patient with their decision and let it play out through OTAs, camp, and the preseason. On if the team would consider adding a veteran quarterback, Moore stated, “we’ll certainly have awareness to it.” Stay tuned.

The electric rookie tight end underwent offseason shoulder surgery and has not yet been cleared to participate in rookie minicamp. Loveland was not only present but was seen with a helmet on while warming up to the side on Friday, indicating he may be close to a return to the practice field. He should immediately be considered a TE1 in fantasy circles after being selected with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by Ben Johnson’s Bears.

Wow, to put it mildly. The news was announced by the team itself. Saints insider Nick Underhill reports Carr “tried all his options to get back on the field and ultimately decided against having another surgery and will retire.” He also reports the Saints will “recoup the money from this offseason’s restructure and will get cap relief.” In a statement, the team said Carr was dealing with a “labral tear and also had significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff,” and that surgery would not guarantee a return to full effectiveness. It’s a sad end for a player who spent most of his career overachieving, though perhaps not surprising. Carr, who almost never missed time before last season, had grown increasingly prone to playing through injury. It apparently was no longer sustainable. Carr never won a playoff game but qualified for four Pro Bowls. He was ultimately a high-floor, limited-ceiling player who maximized every ounce of his talent to start over a decade in the league. Carr’s retirement means rookie second-rounder Tyler Shough will now begin the season as Saints starter barring something truly surprising happening in training camp.

Berry stopped short of officially ruling out a reunion, saying the Browns are “never going to rule out someone as near and dear to our heart” as Chubb, but a “return is less likely, at least in the short term.” Berry intends to see “how the roles shake out in the running back room” with rookies Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson joining veteran Jerome Ford, who the Browns think “plays a role.” Judkins currently slots in as Chubb’s early-down replacement and Sampson profiles as Ford’s long-term backup as a rotation rusher and passing-down specialist. Per ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi, Berry encouragingly said, “Chubb’s broken foot has healed and is not a concern,” so Chubb should be able to pass a physical if another team comes calling.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Warren will receive a fully guaranteed $20.9 million on his new contract that includes an $11.88 million signing bonus. Warren, who was viewed by many as the No. 1 tight end of the class, went off the board four picks after the Bears took Michigan’s Colston Loveland as the TE1 of the draft, but will now have a chance to earn the starting job for the Colts this season. The Colts have long been in need of a productive tight end in the passing game, and should find that in Warren, who caught 153 passes in his five-year career at Penn State, and broke out with a 104-1,233-8 line last season. A solid run-blocker who can also create after the catch, Warren should have no trouble seeing the field, but a run-heavy scheme could put a cap on his overall target volume this season.

Per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Jeanty’s deal is fully guaranteed and worth more than $35.89 million. It comes with a $22.7 million signing bonus. Jeanty could compete for the league lead in touches as a rookie, putting him squarely in the RB1 ranks. The Raiders also signed third-round OG Caleb Rogers, sixth-round QB Cam Miller and seventh-round LB Cody Lindenberg.

The Panthers officially bring their X-wide receiver into the fold via a $27.93 million deal. McMillan should immediately compete for the team lead in targets and should produce fantasy-friendly results in year one. The Panthers also signed third-round OLB Princely Umanmielen, fourth-round S Lathan Ransom, fifth-round DT Cam Jackson, fifth-round TE Mitchell Evans and sixth-round WR Jimmy Horn Jr.. Dynasty managers should take note of Horn, who could eventually work his way into three-wide receiver sets.

NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk reports the deal “is worth over $26.6 million and is fully guaranteed.” Loveland will vie for targets in a crowded Bears pass-catching corps, but the talent and offensive scheme could yield TE1 results in year one. We’re not entirely sure where the Bears tight-end corps stands heading into Week 1 — perhaps there will be more 12-personnel than last year — but Loveland certainly has the talent to be impactful in fantasy leagues early.

What a brutal break for a once-promising player. Brooks, now just 21 years old, slipped to the 2024 NFL Draft’s second round due to his 2023 ACL tear. He then made his rookie season debut in Week 10, only to re-tear the ligament in Week 14. He will miss the entire 2025 season. The front office signed Chuba Hubbard to a four-year contract extension back in November, signed Rico Dowdle to a one-year deal in March and spent a fourth-round pick on former Georgia RB Trevor Etienne just two weeks ago. The Panthers sure don’t seem to be waiting on Brooks to return healthy in 2026, and neither should dynasty leaguers.

Clowney was a cut candidate heading into the draft, and then the Panthers spent both of their Day Two picks on pass rushers, sealing Clowney’s fate. The veteran EDGE is no stranger to free agency, having changed teams in all but one of the past six seasons. He totaled 5.5 sacks and broke up four passes with the Panthers in 2024. Though Clowney never lived up to his No. 1 overall pick hype, he is a high-floor outside linebacker who shouldn’t have any issues finding working somewhere around the league in 2025.
