  • NYY Left Fielder #24
Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters afterwards that initial X-rays were inconclusive, which means Domínguez will undergo additional imaging, including a CT scan, prior to Friday’s series opener against the Orioles back in New York. He added that he was in a great deal of pain when he left the contest after being hit by a pitch. It sounds like there’s a chance he manages to avoid the injured list, but that’s hardly a lock. There should be a definitive update on his status later this week.
  • AZ Shortstop #2
Perdomo returns to Arizona’s lineup at shortstop and hitting leadoff following a two-game absence due to a left ankle sprain. The 26-year-old has gotten off to a slow start this season, slashing .250/.350/.393 with 11 runs scored, one homer, six RBI and six steals in 102 plate appearances over 25 games. He was one of last year’s biggest breakout stars with a 20-homer, 100-RBI, 27-steal campaign out of nowhere.
  • DET Shortstop #28
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Báez is dealing with a high-grade ankle sprain and didn’t offer a definitive return timetable. It’s an extremely encouraging diagnosis after Báez appeared to suffer a serious right leg injury during Tuesday’s game against the Braves on an awkward slide into first base while trying to avoid a tag. The 33-year-old underwent an MRI that didn’t reveal any structural damage, but is still going to miss at least a couple weeks, if not longer. It’ll be Wenceel Pérez taking over in center field during his absence. There’s a chance the Tigers decide to bring up top prospect Max Clark at some point in the near future if they decide he’s finally ready.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
No word yet regarding how much time Mize will miss after undergoing an MRI that revealed an adductor strain. The 28-year-old was lifted from Tuesday’s start against the Braves with groin tightness after just 2 1/3 innings. He holds a strong 2.90 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 35/11 K/BB ratio across 31 innings this season. It’ll likely be Sawyer Gipson-Long taking his spot in Detroit’s rotation since Justin Verlander (hip) isn’t close to returning from the injured list.
  • TOR Designated Hitter #4
Springer is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday, but he is available off the bench. He should move back into the starting lineup soon, which will shift Lenyn Sosa back to the bench and also mean less playing time for Yohendrick Pinango, who is starting at designated hitter and batting sixth on Wednesday.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #13
Machado was removed from Monday’s game with a calf injury and sat out on Tuesday, but he’ll be right back out there on Wednesday. Miguel Andujar will play third again, while Nick Castellanos will start in left field and bat eighth, with Ramon Laureano getting a day off.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #35
Oh, wow. Crochet looked more like himself in his last start, throwing six shutout innings on Saturday and striking out seven batters. It appears that all was not actually well. There is no word yet on how long Crochet will be out, but this is a brutal blow for the Red Sox and fantasy managers. Left-hander Jake Bennett was scratched from his start for Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, so he will likely start on Friday against Houston. The big lefty has a 0.86 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, and 16/3 K/BB ratio in 21 innings at Triple-A but may only be up with Boston, if he’s up at all, until Sonny Gray (hamstring) comes off the IL.
  • DET Shortstop #28
“That one looked scary,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Báez was carted off the field during Tuesday’s game against the Braves following an awkward feet-first slide into first base attempting to avoid a tag. The fact that there isn’t an immediate update from the club following the contest suggests that Báez is probably dealing with a serious injury. There should be some clarity on his status at some point soon. Any sort of extended absence would likely open the door for top prospect Max Clark to take over in center field.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman #87
Bazzana struck out, flew out to center field and drew a walk in three at-bats against Rays starter Nick Martinez during his highly-anticipated big-league debut at Progressive Field. He was denied a chance to deliver a potential game-tying or game-winning hit when he was intentionally walked by reliever Cole Sulser with two outs in the ninth inning. The 23-year-old’s combination of advanced hitting ability, plate discipline and power/speed combination should give him some immediate fantasy relevance, especially in deeper mixed leagues. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all leagues, especially OBP formats.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Mize is likely to undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list. The 28-year-old righty left Tuesday’s start with a trainer in the third inning after allowing two runs over 2 1/3 frames. It would likely be Sawyer Gipson-Long taking his rotation spot, but that’s purely speculative at this point. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.
